Overview
This spring break, you’ll be part of a Boston College team traveling to Iceland to engage in a week of hands-on service and meaningful reflection. Participants will be placed in one of two locations based on group fit and interests, which will be discussed during your interview.
In Akureyri (northern Iceland), students will partner with the Salvation Army to support local ministries serving immigrant families, low-income households, and anyone in need of belonging.
In Krýsuvík (southern Iceland), students will work with Worldwide Friends on environmental projects such as reforestation and coastline clean-up.
Both teams will experience Iceland’s natural beauty, live in community with fellow volunteers, and reflect on what it means to live justly and faithfully in a global context.
What You’ll Do
✔️ Serve with local nonprofits focused on either compassion ministry or environmental sustainability
✔️ Learn from Icelandic leaders and international volunteers about local challenges and responses
✔️ Explore Iceland’s dramatic landscapes—from waterfalls and black sand beaches to volcanic cliffs and fjords
