Overview
Looking for a rejuvenating and exciting way to spend your spring break? This trip is for students who are ready to explore new paths, serve with intention, and grow in community. You'll partner with local organizations for hands-on service work, engage in reflection and conversation around purpose and future plans, and take in Iceland’s unforgettable landscapes—from waterfalls to volcanic landscapes. Whether you're new to traveling or a seasoned adventurer, this week offers a unique opportunity to step outside your comfort zone and connect with others in a whole new way.
What You’ll Do
✔️ Work alongside a local nonprofit focused on environmental sustainability and climate action
✔️ Support projects like reforestation, beach clean-ups, and land restoration in partnership with Iceland’s forestry and conservation efforts
✔️ Explore Iceland’s stunning natural wonders—from waterfalls and black sand beaches to volcanic cliffs
✔️ Build friendships, grow in confidence, and connect with Icelandic and international volunteers
✔️ Reflect on your values, passions, and purpose—and how they might shape the way you live, lead, and serve
How To Join
This experience is open to current Hendrix students committed to showing up fully and serving with intention:
Submit your application through the link below.
Participate in an in-person interview on campus with Hendrix staff, joined virtually by a Compass team member to answer questions about Iceland and the trip experience.
Receive your acceptance notification in mid-October to early November.
Pay the $600 program cost (directly to Hendrix) and complete Compass’ confirmation forms.
Attend Two Team meetings prior to the trip: February 8 & 22 from 6:30-8:00 (CST).
