Overview
Looking for a rejuvenating and exciting way to spend your spring break? This trip is for students who are ready to explore new cultures, serve with intention, and grow in community. You'll partner with local organizations for hands-on service work, engage in reflection and conversation around purpose and future plans, and take in Iceland’s unforgettable landscapes—from waterfalls to volcanic landscapes. Whether you're new to traveling or a seasoned adventurer, this week offers a unique opportunity to step outside your comfort zone and connect with others in a whole new way.
What You’ll Do
✔️ Work alongside a local nonprofit focused on environmental sustainability and climate action
✔️ Support projects like reforestation, beach clean-ups, and land restoration in partnership with Iceland’s forestry and conservation efforts
✔️ Explore Iceland’s stunning natural wonders—from waterfalls and black sand beaches to volcanic cliffs
✔️ Build friendships, grow in confidence, and connect with Icelandic and international volunteers
✔️ Learn about new cultures, sustainability practices, and your role in caring for the planet

This experience is open to current Hendrix students committed to showing up fully and serving with intention.

Submit your application through Hendrix’s Alternative Break process.
Pay the $500 trip cost directly to Hendrix College to reserve your spot.
Spots are limited to 8 students and will fill on a rolling basis.
