DRIVER AGREEMENT

There may be occasions during the program when we may ask you to drive participants. This could be for a grocery run, if a participant needed to be brought to a medical facility, or if we needed to bring the group to a different location. Your role on Compass does not require you to drive others, but it is very helpful if you are able to.

Any leader who indicates that they are willing to drive participants (including other leaders) during the program is also indicating that they are able to safely drive themselves and others, that they are insured, that they are at least 25 years of age, that they have a current driver’s license, that they have had a physical in the past year verfiying that they don’t have any medical conditions making them unfit to drive and that they do not have any pertinent demerits on their driving record (speeding, DUI, accidents, etc.). Compass purchases the insurance package offered by rental agencies, however, as an added precaution those who are willing to drive participants during the program should upload a copy of their driver’s license and proof of auto insurance upon completion of this form.

Anyone driving Compass participants must do so as safely as possible. This means obeying all traffic signs, lights and regulations. Cell phones should not be in use unless the driver has it securely propped us to use as a GPS, or has the person in the passenger seat assisting with navigation. The driver should ensure that everyone in the vehicle has their seatbelt on, and should never drive if there is anything that could impair their ability to drive safely. Drivers should not eat while driving, should wear glasses/contacts if need be, and should not drive if they take medications/other substances that could make them drowsy or otherwise impair their ability to drive. Furthermore, drivers should only drive the vehicles under which they are listed as drivers with the agency. Under no circumstance should anyone drive a rental vehicle who is not listed as a driver with the rental agency.
